Mr Jonathan A. Gaev has worked at ECRI Institute for over 20 years, managing technical projects, evaluating medical technology and lecturing on patient safety, planning, procurement and management of medical equipment.   He is the Business Line Manager for ECRI Institute’s Clinical Engineering benchmarking product, BiomedicalBenchmark.

 

While at ECRI, he managed the start-up of Pennsylvania’s web-based problem reporting system (PA-PSRS), lead a study on the feasibility of benchmarking, testified before the US Senate Appropriations Committee on oxygen technology.  He has published over 35 articles and delivered over 100 lectures throughout the world on medical technology. 

 

Prior to joining ECRI, he was a manager in the Clinical Engineering Department of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  He began his career in the software engineering group at RCA’s Advanced Technology Laboratory where he worked for 6 years on expert systems, computer vision and robotics.

 

He earned Masters’ degrees in Biomedical Engineering and in Systems Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania.  He has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering, both earned at Drexel University.  He is Certified Clinical Engineer, Healthcare Environmental Manager and Project Management Professional.  He served on the US Board of Examiners for Clinical Engineering and was awarded the ACCE 2012 Professional Achievement in Technology Award/Professional Development Award by the American College of Clinical Engineers.
